Tyler Buchner's Journey Continues

American Football Quarterback

Tyler Buchner, born November 7, 2002, is an American football quarterback who has had an unconventional college sports career. After graduating from La Jolla Country Day School, Buchner initially committed to play football at the University of Notre Dame before ultimately transferring to the University of Alabama.

Buchner's time at Alabama has been marked by intense competition for the starting quarterback position. In 2021, he battled with Bryce Young for the starting job, ultimately losing out to the eventual Heisman Trophy winner. Despite not starting, Buchner made valuable contributions to the team, appearing in 10 games and completing 18 of 26 passes for 180 yards.

With Young moving on to the NFL, Buchner is once again in the mix for the starting quarterback role at Alabama in 2023. He will face competition from Jalen Milroe, who started several games in Young's absence last season. The quarterback competition in Tuscaloosa is expected to be one of the most closely watched battles in college football this year.

Buchner's unusual college sports career has been characterized by both challenges and opportunities. Despite not always being the starter, he has shown flashes of his potential and has gained valuable experience. As he enters his senior season, Buchner will look to make the most of his opportunity and lead the Crimson Tide to success.
