Chargers Select Brenden Rice in Seventh Round of 2024 NFL Draft

Son of NFL Legend Jerry Rice Stays in Los Angeles

Former USC Standout Joins Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers have selected former USC wide receiver Brenden Rice with the No. 225 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft on Saturday. Rice, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, will stay in Los Angeles after spending three seasons with the Trojans.

Rice, who was born on March 18, 2002, is a 6-foot-2, 205-pound wide receiver who had a productive career at USC. In 2022, he caught 62 passes for 956 yards and eight touchdowns, earning All-Pac-12 honorable mention honors.

Rice is known for his strong hands, route running, and ability to make contested catches. He is also a physical blocker and has experience returning punts.

The Chargers are hoping that Rice can develop into a reliable target for quarterback Justin Herbert. Rice will join an offense that includes wide receivers Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, and DeAndre Carter.
